The community update
Publishing went server-side, and the site grew a daily rhythm: a fresh banter and challenge every day, votes, comments, duels, and replays.
- New Publish for real — "Save & publish" now puts your banter (transcript included) in the public feed, where anyone can read, replay, and vote on it.
- New Banter of the Day — a fresh AI debate generated daily, with an archive at /daily.
- New Daily challenge — one topic, everyone's take. Publish your entry and the most-liked rise to the top.
- New Who won? — vote for a winner on any banter and see the community split.
- New Replay — saved transcripts play back with timed reveal, optionally read aloud by your browser's voices. Free, instant, no live session needed.
- New Character duels — any two of the 24 characters head to head at /duels, with ready-made dialogues and live clashes.
- New Topic and tag pages, on-site search, and landing pages for interview practice, language practice, debate practice, sleep stories, brainstorming, and learning.
- New Speak 19 languages — pick a conversation language in the composer and the agents converse in it.
- New Voice previews — hear any of the eight voices before you pick one.
- New Remix any banter, export transcripts as markdown, embed a banter on your own site, and autoplay the next one when a session ends.
- Improved Likes and comments are now shared across visitors (comments need sign-in). Share links get a proper branded preview card.
- New Install it — the site is now a PWA: add to home screen, share topics straight into the composer, offline fallback.
Characters get profiles, and a look at plans
The Characters page became a proper roster, and the paid tiers are now public.
- New A roster of 24 character profiles — Einstein, Cleopatra, Sherlock, Yoda, Hermione, Picard and more — each with a bio, era, traits, and the voice that suits them.
- New Every character doubles as an agent: chat with them, call them, or let them monologue, straight from their profile.
- New Filter the roster by Historical, Fictional, or Pop culture — or search by name.
- Improved The 12 curated character dialogues moved to the main feed, where banters belong. Each character profile links to the ones they appear in.
- New Plans and pricing are visible on your profile. Nothing is charged yet — you can register interest and get told when they launch.
Accounts, an admin console, and a real database
Sign-in arrived, along with the machinery to run the site properly.
- New Sign in with Google — a popup, no redirects. Optional: everything still works signed out.
- New A profile page showing your account and your local library at a glance.
- New An admin console with live visitor stats, a member list, and content management.
- Improved Moved from flat files to a SQLite database for members, visitor stats, and site content.
- Improved Structured data and cleaner URLs across the site, so pages surface properly in search.
No API key needed
The biggest barrier to trying the site is gone.
- New Voice and AI drafting now run on the site's own key — no setup, no Google AI Studio trip, no key dialog.
- Improved Voice sessions authenticate with short-lived, single-use tokens, so no long-lived credential is ever exposed to the browser.
- Fixed Removed the settings dialog and every stale "paste your API key" instruction.
Real URLs
Every page became linkable, shareable, and indexable.
- Improved Switched from #hash links to proper paths — /characters, /modes, /play/… Old links still work.
- New Each page now has its own title, description, and preview card when shared.
- New Added a sitemap and robots file so search engines can find everything.
Categories, tags, and a tidier feed
- New Banters can carry a category and tags, so the feed is easier to scan.
- New Delete banters you created — transcript, comments, and likes go with them.
- Improved The transcript panel gained a status bar with a follow/pause toggle that stays put while you scroll.
One composer, and pages to explain things
- Improved Merged the create flows into a single composer — describe two agents, set a topic, press play.
- New AI quick-start: type one line like "Gandalf and Dumbledore on student safety" and the whole banter is drafted for you.
- New About, Help, FAQs, and Contact pages.
Independent identity
- Improved Refreshed the branding now that Agent Banter runs as its own site.
- Improved Chat input no longer lets you send while an agent is still speaking.
Launch week — the modes arrive
The first working version, and then most of what makes it interesting.
- New Instant listen: describe two agents and a topic, press play, hear them talk. No save required.
- New Chat one-on-one with a single agent — you type, they answer with voice.
- New Endless solo monologue: one agent talking until you stop them.
- New Voice calls — talk into your microphone and get answered out loud, with a live mic level meter.
- New A modes directory: panel, debate, interview, improv, roast, storyteller, and more.
- New A reusable agent library, so a persona you like can be used anywhere.
- New Light and dark themes, themed scrollbars, and richer voice descriptions in the picker.
- Improved Transcripts now stay in step with the audio, with a follow toggle if you want to read back.
